learning to worship

'08 started in a flurry for me. Right after Metamorphosis conference, school started and ministry rolled. Trainings for students, preparing for mission trip, meetings, walking through discipleship issues with them in the midst. On top of that, I began co-leading a new group of young adults in church. And I started keyboard classes every Thu! So, I've been reaching home at 1030pm almost every night for the past three weeks. Tiring! Last Sat, when my tank was already low, I received news that a couple whom we've invited for a Couple's Forum could not make it due to a change in date of our event, which was unforeseen as well. I prayed and before I could say amen quickly called another couple I knew. No one answered. Desperate. God must have been nudging me hard this time. I put down my handphone, prayed, and played on my keyboard the only chorus I knew. "Here I am to worship Here I am to bow down Here I am to say that You're my Lord.." I surrendered my...

metamorphosis

Metamorphosis finally came and went. It ended last Fri night and though I was tired I was really glad. For each student who was there, esp the TP & RP Crusaders. For each lesson and thanksgiving shared by them. For those who went forward in response to God's call to full-time ministry. For their enthusiasm for God. Can't thank God enough for them! For me it was also a personal time to let the timeless truth of my identity in Christ sink deeper into my heart. It's strange how long some things take for me to get it. But I'm glad God is ever pursuing my heart and is in control of things. I took home from Dave Park's messages an assurance that God is real and that I can receive from Him His great love. And like a re-lighted candle, a renewed desire to reflect Christ in my life. May people see in me Christ, more than anything else I am or do.

I don't want to be

Been watching this MTV alot as I help out in a video for Metamorphosis . Great song, meaningful lyrics, interesting:)

running together

It's an experience one-of-a-kind. Sky's still dark. Everyone in running singlet and shorts. Stretching and tying shoe laces. And start. Crowds of people running along the roads, no cars. And breaking all traffic rules. 21.1K my second year at it. My goal- to finish it with Qingwen. Cos last year I left him hobbling mid-way when he had leg cramps. Sigh. So this year I promised never to leave him behind heh. We did good for the first half of the journey. But after 12K his legs started aching and cramping so we stopped to stretch n brisk walk. I egged him on, promising Macdonalds after the race. He said it was cheapo but anyway yay we crossed the finishing line! Sure, I was slower this year. But I learnt what it meant to put someone else's interest before mine. And it's a great experience. The medal I got meant twice more than it did last year. Praise God for the race! My legs ache but I'm so glad we completed it.

in loving memory

My Grandpa passed on last Sun night. Though we were all prepared for the worst, everybody was very sad. We couldn't bear to let him go. My grandpa is a good man. Quiet and reserved, he speaks alot only when he's angry. He's a dutiful and caring husband and I remember him cooking for the family when my grandma was sick. He did the groceries when she could not walk long distances anymore. He doted on me and always bought me breakfast. I remember that he would be the first to wake up and make coffee-old style with sock-for everybody. When I attended kindergarten and pri sch he'd wait for me and fetch me home. I became known as the student whose grandfather waited for after school. He's always shaking his leg while smoking a cigarette. And he loves "brick game"! But after a fall in the toilet followed by an operation he could no longer walk as much and became very pessimistic. He withdrew into his shell and seldom spoke. Sometimes he refused to ea...

Love God and your Neighbour

at the ward

For the past week, I've been going to the hospital often to visit my grandpa who had a minor op on his leg. He fell in the toilet and fractured a bone. Coupled with lung infection and old age, he groans alot in discomfort and pain. In the nights I stayed over, I saw little newborn babies wheeled out to the respective wards. Carefully wrapped in white towels, they look pink and sleepy. You can't help but smile as they go past. Young and old. Starting and Ending. Despair and Hope. These juxtaposes in life become apparent as I stood outside my grandpa's ward. Life is fragile and wonderful at the same time. It works out amazingly and unexpectedly, sometimes in joy and other times in sadness. Can't help but feel small yet safe, knowing that all these happen in God's time. "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven; a time to be born and a time to die.. a time to weep and a time to laugh.." Ecc 3:1,2,4
