Wedding in Malacca

Image
Last weekend, I went to Malacca with my family to attend my cousin's wedding. This was the first time I've gone overseas with my family. Actually, the week before had been a very tiring week of cold war between me and my Dad over some very trivial misunderstanding. Though I was reluctant to go at first, I must say I'm glad I went. It was a precious time of getting to know my relatives more. I had fun too taking pics of my uncles, aunties, and cousins.

yea she came!

What a night! I went to an evangelistic concert "Coming Home" (at Bethesda Cathedral) with my aunt tonight. I was so surprised that she readily agreed to come with me when I called her this morning. She enjoyed the musical, and could even relate well with the characters. There was an altar call and though she did not raise her hand, I sensed that she was receptive. After that, we talked about sin, confession and Jesus. While she has not received Jesus into her life, I know that tonight was a breakthrough, praise God! I really want to kick myself for not having a camera with me just now. Not only did I miss taking a pic with my aunt, I missed the beautiful stage shots and also that with one of RP guys who was in the choir! Sigh.. but really I thank God for the opportunity to share the gospel with my aunt in this way.

staying connected

Staying Connected By Os Hillman Powered By Marketplace Leaders Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in You. Show me the way I should go, for to You I lift up my soul. - Psalm 143:8 Two of the greatest inventions of my time have been the laptop computer and e-mail. The laptop means I no longer have to stay in one place to be productive in my business life. E-mail has allowed me to stay connected to people all around the world with the touch of a button. My greatest frustration is when either of these does not work. Sometimes e-mail cannot be used because I can't get a connection. Sometimes I cannot use my laptop because I have not properly charged it, and then the charge runs out while I am on an airplane. Both of these situations mean I am unable to tap into the resource that allows me to fulfill my calling in my work to the fullest. The morning time with God is much like these situations. God pours His Word into my spirit, and I am recharge...

Lord of Eternity

Lord of Eternity Blessed is the man Who walks in your favour Who loves all your words And hides them like treasure. In the darkest place Of his desperate heart, They are a light A strong, sure light. Sometimes I call out your name, But I cannot find you. I look for your face, But you are not there. By my sorrows, Lord, Lift me to you, Lift me to your side. Lord of eternity, Father of mercy, Look on my fainting soul. Keeper of all stars, Friend of the poorest heart Touch me and make me whole. If you are my defender, Who is against me? No one can trouble or harm me If you are my strength All I ask, all I desire Is to live in your house all my house Lord of eternity, God of all mercy, Come to my troubled soul. Keeper of all the stars, Friend of the poorest heart and make me whole. - Fernando Ortega This is a beautiful song, wish I could let you hear the music that goes with the great lyrics. It just tells of my heart's desire to hear and feel close to the Lord of eternity. Hope it w...

it's been a while

'Metamorphosis' kept me so busy the past couple of months. But I'm so encouraged that about 12 students from Temasek and Republic Poly attended the student conference. It was a first for many of the freshies. And I believe a life-changing experience for them. As they delved deeper into the book of Colossians, I believe they were being "Rooted and Built Up", which is the theme of this year's conference! They feedbacked that they enjoyed the theological equipping courses they took like Christology, Salvation and Christian Life. Please pray along with me that the students will continue to be rooted deeply in God's Word while being built up in their walk in Him. On a more personal note, Dad gave me a shock when he said he had quit his job. I wondered why he did that, and I think besides the job itself, it might be because of his health. For some time, he has been having gastric problems. More recently, high blood pressure. He's lost some weight as ...

these inward trials

I asked the Lord that I might grow In faith, and love, and every grace; Might more of His salvation know, And seek more earnestly His face. I hoped that in some favoured hour At once He'd answer my request, And by His love's constraining power Subdue my sins, and give me rest. Instead of this, He made me feel The hidden evils of my heart; And let the angry powers of hell Assault my soul in every part. Yea more, with His own hand He seemed Intent to aggravate my woe; Crossed all the fair designs I schemed, Blasted my gourds, and laid me low. 'Lord, why this?' I trembled cried, 'Will thou pursue Thy worm to death?' 'I answer prayer for grace and faith. These inward trials I employ From self and pride to set thee free; And break thy schemes of earthly joy, That thou may'st seek thy all in me. -John Newton I read this in 'Knowing God' by J.I Packer after talking with a friend who's going through a rough patch. The hymn really hit the nail on the...
