Out of the Blue

I saw a new, black Nokia 6020 on my table when I came home yesterday and my heart skipped a bit. Soon after, my father came back and told me that the phone is for me! He had changed a mobile plan and had a free phone which he wants to give me, wow.. I had been thinking about 'upgrading' my phone cos it could not contain my expanding list of contacts. To think my little wish, and no I did not pray about it would come through in this BIG way- my Dad! I'm blessed...:)

Lori Wick Yes I must have perplexed my close ones when I chose and continue to be doing what I'm doing-'charity work, getting low pay etc..' I'm learning recently about persistence, to "run with the endurance the race set before us" (heb 12:1). That the author said she was thankful for the times in her life when she had been persistent surprised me. I've never thought that persistance was any thanksgiving, but like the author, i guess i would if i continue to run with persistence:)

What a sight! A tutorial room filled with Crusaders having a training session on "De coding Da Vinci Code". This is the first time in my experience in TP Campus Crusade that so many of us (including freshmen) are gathered for a Life Meeting. God is great!

When the team started preparing for Gen 12II, the destination changed from Thailand to West Malaysia to Laos. I was really stressed. But not my students. They are they most 'zai' teens I've ever met! I thank God for them. We started raising support, collecting old clothes, discussed about how to teach the children in the villages. As I worry about things undone, His presence was my strength. "When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" Ps 8:3 (here's us lying on the heap of old clothes) On 18th Mar, we said our goodbyes and boarded the plane. The flight was delayed for a few hours and we missed our connecting flight. We stayed a night in Bangkok and reached Laos the next morning. Whew, I really learnt to trust the Lord in times of changes and waiting. This is His mission trip, not mine. Buffalos, boars and chickens crossed the road. No traffic lights, lines n...

Here's my mission trip newsletter that I'm giving out to raise funding and prayer support for my trip to Laos. Things have been going quite slowly but I'm hopeful that He-the God of above and beyond- will provide in His time! On a note of thanksgiving, my family has been surprisingly receptive to the trip. Some of my aunties are even giving me old clothes to bring over to the villagers, praise God:)

After Women's Conference, I ran a fever and a Gen 12II meeting at the same time. Thank God the fever is gone now and the meeting was fruitful! I learnt many precious lessons from the lives of close to 200 women at the conference. We heard from many inspiring women-Judy Douglas, Andrea Buczynski, and Dr Kim who expounded on the book of Ruth-another woman whom I had learnt much from. In the bible, Ruth was a Moabite whom clung on to her mother-in-law Naomi. She believed in and served Yah Weh. She lived a life of 'Hesed'- Loving Kindness- and one aspect of it is living life beyond and above what is expected. It inspires me to know that I can live life "surpassingly." One area that comes to mind in living "surpassingly" is that of missions. I'm going to Laos this March, along with 6 other young and fun-loving Poly students and 3 other adults. As time nears, and support raising gets tougher, my heart gets more excited but also more fearful. Will ...
